My interest in Japan started with The Water Margin then Monkey then Shogun that came out in 1980.
Last week a new adaptation of Shogun started to air and it is brilliant. The original enhanced my dream of going to Japan and learning the language because of a certain scene (no spoliers).
When I went to Japan, nearly thirty years ago, the first thing I did was seek out William Adams’ grave or anything to do with him.
I had a friend who took me there when I told him about the story. He is now my hubby.
The emotions that I had when I got to the place I can’t describe. I welled up I was so happy.
Watching the new Shogun 2024, has reaffirmed my love of Japan, it’s culture and people. I am so glad of the choices that I made as a child.
Can’t wait for the rest if the series.
Will be visiting it again, soon.
